NCIS’ Brian Dietzen drops Nick Torres exit tease as team welcomes back fan-favourite
NCIS star Brian Dietzen hinted at a major Nick Torres departure with a snap which welcomed Ducky’s return to the team
CBS’ gripping drama NCIS recently returned to screens with its milestone 20th season. However, things could be heading south for Nick Torres (played by Wilmer Valderrama) who could soon be replaced. While Torres’ place on the team remains uncertain, actor Brian Dietzen shared a behind-the-scenes photo welcoming Ducky’s (David McCallum) return.
Brian who stars as NCIS’ Chief Medical Examiner Dr Jimmy Palmer, took to Instagram with a major tease for fans.
The actor posted a photo of the beloved team members minus Torres star Wilmer, but the group snap included Ducky’s David McCallum, whose return was confirmed.
There was also a second photo which showed Torres behind bars with a mysterious woman.
Brian captioned the post: “Damn that’s a good looking team! Wait… where’s Torres? This looks like it’s gonna be a good one folks! (AND Ducky’s back!).”
The third episode of NCIS premieres on Monday and its gripping teaser warned Torres could find himself in some major trouble.
This clip showed the agent attending therapy with Dr Grace Confalone (Laura San Giacomo) but their session was cut short when their lives were threatened.
The teaser showed a snippet of Dr Grace unconscious on the ground and while the assailant is yet to be identified, Torres checked her pulse but it’s yet to be revealed if the therapist was alive or not.
With the photo Brian posted of the agent behind bars, Torres could find himself in trouble for a c***e he didn’t commit.
During the trailer, he was also caught by surprise after he tried to reach for his gun while knelt next to Dr Grace.
Wilmer also teased his character’s fate as he took to Brian’s Instagram comments with a sad face emoji.
Viewers also questioned Torres’ appearance including @shellie0701 who wrote: “Why isn’t Torres in this pic?”
@messietessie67 suspected: “I’m getting a sick feeling that Torres d**s.”
While @kterry03 added: “Torres better stay alive in this next episode”
Other fans were thrilled to see Ducky’s return and took to the comment section with excitement.
@bluewaterbabe27 commented: “Ducky!!! Yay!!!”
A thrilled @tracy_virgin_tx wrote: “Duckie, I always love when he makes an appearance.”
A sixth viewer @jan_johnson_1960 added: “This one looks really exciting, and I am so happy I will see Ducky! What a trooper he is to just keep working and working.” (sic)
Ducky’s return was confirmed after Brian shared a photo of the two havings lunch while dressed as their characters.
To which NCIS’ official Instagram account responded: “If Palmer and Ducky like tuna melts, we like tuna melts.”
Ducky star David will return in a reduced role as the NCIS office’s official historian and thankfully for fans, showrunner Scott M Gimple confirmed he would be in at least as many episodes as the previous season.
NCIS season 20 continues Mondays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced
