NCIS LA season 14: Deeks in deadly undercover mission as he faces booby trap in sneak peek

NCIS LA season 14 will kick off with a potentially life-threatening case for Marty Deeks and the rest of the team in episode one, Game of Drones.
Marty Deeks (played by Eric Christian Olsen) will join the likes of G Callen (Chris O’Donnell), Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), Devin Roundtree (Caleb Castille) and Fatima Namazi (Medalion Rahimi) for a high-risk operation in NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 14 premiere. But a sneak peek at the episode shared by CBS hints it may not end too well for fan-favourite Deeks – and he makes no secret of his apprehension as the team approaches a rather perilous location.
Excitement levels for the NCIS LA season 14 opener were already sent sky-high prior to the first-look clip by CBS’ cryptic synopsis.
The plot for Game of Drones reads: “The NCIS team searches for a suspect and their motive following the bombing of a large facility where military combat drones are assembled.

“Also, Callen and Kilbride (Gerard McRaney) get troubling news about a body found in Syria.”

In a sneak peek at the instalment, Callen, Fatima, Roundtree and Sam are shown approaching an unknown location as they try to track down the aforementioned suspect.

“Nice of you to finally join us,” Callen quips to Sam as he joins him, Fatima and Roundtree on their way to the location.

All armed and covered in armour, Sam reveals he’s having problems with his dad as he replied: “Trust me, I’d rather be chasing bad guys than trying to convince my father to behave himself.”

“How’s he doing?” Fatima asks to which Sam replied rather defeatedly: “He’s… doing everything he can to drive me crazy.”

The quartet are then interrupted by Kilbride through their earpieces as he angrily snaps: “If you all are finished chit-chatting, maybe we can get this operation started.”

As the four agents split up, NCIS Reserve Agent Shyla Dahr (Kavi Ramachandran Ladnier) provides some information: “The building is owned by Ava Safari.

“It’s only about 36 percent occupancy since Covid wiped out most of her tenants. The office that she gave them is on a floor that is otherwise vacant.”

“Good,” Callen replied as he and Sam make their way up the staircase: “The last thing we need is collateral casualties.”

But Kilbride urges caution as he harps in: “Consider these people armed, we know that they’re dangerous, and they have access to high explosives so watch out for booby traps.”
At this point in the clip, Deeks emerges from one of the building’s elevators, decked in undercover gear
Clearly on edge after Kilbride’s warning, he interrupts: “I’m sorry… Wha- Booby traps?

“Nobody said anything about booby traps,” he yells. “I’m not the bomb disposal guy, maybe Sam should be coming in first.”

But Sam tries to reassure his fellow agent: “We’re not expecting company Deeks, you’ll be fine… probably.”
Clearly unconvinced and fearful he’s heading into a life-threatening scenario, Deeks scoffs as he replies: “Probably.”

The sneak peek ends there, leaving whatever situation Deeks is about to walk into a mystery.

But with Kilbride’s words of warning ringing in his ear, could he be heading into a deadly explosion?

It would be a major turn-up for the books if Deeks were to be injured in the season opener, or even die – but fans will have to wait for the premiere to arrive to find out what lies ahead.

NCIS: Los Angeles season 14 premieres on CBS in the USA on October 9. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
