NCIS LA Season 14: Boss Provides an Update on the Return of An Original Cast Member
R Scott Gemill, the executive producer of NCIS: Los Angeles, has teased the return of fan favorite original cast member Linda Hunt in upcoming episodes.
Hetty, Hunt’s character, has only made sporadic appearances recently, greeting Eric and Nell and informing the team about the situation in Syria. She was supposed to make a proper return for Season 13, but that is still in the works due to pand3mic restrictions and the actress’s age of 77.
Gemill explained to TVLine how he plans to incorporate Hetty into the plot, using the wedding of Callen and Anna as an excuse for her reappearance.
“[Callen] realizes he has unfinished business and refuses to marry without Hetty present. The plan is to go rescue her and figure out what she’s gotten herself into “Gemill stated.
“We’re just trying to figure out when we’ll be able to do it. That was the plan last year as well, but it didn’t work out. We had a [C0V1D variant] surge, but things appear to be settling down. Hopefully, nothing new will emerge, and we will be able to complete the project this year.”
The long-running show will return for its 14th season in early October, so we won’t have to wait long to see if the show begins to sow the seeds for Hetty’s return on-screen.
Meanwhile, the main NCIS series will return for its 20th season next month, with a crossover event with NCIS Hawai’i, which will begin its second season.
